Will your anchor hold in the storm?

Where is your faith anchored?

I quite remember that when i was in

primary school there was this hymn that we used to sing with no clear understanding, but i have grown to  really appreciate the song. The song goes like…

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life?

When the clouds unfold their wings of strife

When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain

Will your anchor drift or firm remain…?

We have an anchor that keeps the soul

Steadfast and sure while the billows roll

Fastened to the Rock which cannot move.

Grounded firm and deep in the savior’s love.

such a powerful song !

The essence of faith is that it does not require our sight or proof. But notice that faith is “reality”. Just because something is not seen does not negate its existence. If it did all of us would be brainless, for i doubt that you have seen your own brain. But we know we have a brain. Faith is loving a Christ, you have never seen, but still know exists.

It is not a question of if you have a faith. It is not a question of if the storms of life will come. It is the question, will your anchor of faith, hold through the storms? The time to anchor your hope and faith to Christ is now, before the storms show up.

Now why should we anchor our faith in Christ?

There is no virtue in faith per se as people have trusted in it, but its virtue comes from where it is rooted.

Faith in Christ is…

  1. Imperishable Faith (1 peter 1:4-5)

Faith in Christ is forever lasting, unlimited and unbound.

The bible tells us to store up our treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20) why? because it will be under the direct shield of the Almighty’s power. Who dares to steal what belongs to you, a faithful child in your father’s house, right under His nose?

Where else can you hook your faith if not to Jesus who is currently in heaven sitting at the right hand of God the Father interceding on our behalf?

Faith in Jesus cannot perish, neither can it degrade, always standing firm giving us victory and strength to carry on.

  1. Tested faith (1 Peter 1:6-8)

True faith is trial embedded.

True faith cannot stand without trials. The bible says the trial of our faith produces perseverance leading us into maturity and completeness in Christ lacking nothing. (James 1:4)

The good news is that our tested faith in Christ is revealing and transforming. When gold is passed through fire it comes out pure and refined, the more the refiner sees his reflection through the gold the purer the gold, but the bible says our faith is of greater worth than perishable gold because it is hooked to Jesus who is unfading and unshaking.

This tells us that our tested faith reveals Christ in us, the more we are tested the more of Christ we become and the more we are rid of impurities, that is, things that makes our faith shake.

  1. True Faith (1 Peter 1:10-12)

Faith in Christ is true, and it does not happen just by chance but given from above.

Bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

You get this true faith either through someone preaching the Word or through personal bible study. The Holy Spirit works in us to develop this faith in us, but there cannot be true faith without the word of God.

The true word of God heals our unbelief leading us into trusting God against all odds.

God bless you.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the gift of life this morning. Please forgive my errors  and wash me that i may be clean. Father heal my unbelief and ground my faith deep in you, i trust in you and so into your hands i commit my soul, far beyond the reach of devourers.

Thank you Father for making your ears attent unto my prayer in Jesus’ name, Amen.

It is time for a Faith check

Have you undergone a health check lately?

Well, as your health is imperative to your body functioning well, so it is with faith in your Christian walk. Do you still remember that you are a spirit being living in a body?

Just in case you have forgotten, this is a reminder of what faith is.

Generally faith is simply having trust or a strong belief in someone or something.

Every one possesses some kind of faith, not only Christians, but even atheists have enough faith in their intellect to say that there is no God.

Faith per the biblical definition in Hebrews 11:1 is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This is so wonderful, i pray that the Holy Spirit will grant you reading this post a deeper understanding as you read along.

First of all faith is an essential element for every Christian. You cannot be a Christian without this tool because you must practically walk it (2 Corinthians 5:7), speak it (2 Corinthians 4:13), Act it (James 1:22) live it (2 Corinthians 5:7) and you will see and have life (John 20:31).

Faith is not blind as some people make it seem, it does not give us false hope, and it is not about hoping so but knowing so. Faith is not an illusion but based on something tangible.

Faith can be held (Ephesians 6:16), it can be picked up like how you pick up money from your pocket to purchase goods.

As one cannot claim to be a farmer without having a farm, you cannot be a Christian without faith. Faith, like a farm is the place we plant our seed, harvest, and sell our produce but where the farm is situated, is paramount to how your hard work will yield.

Faith is vague unless it is accompanied with action just like a piece of land cannot be termed a farm until it has crops or animals on it to proof what it says it is.

Finally, I see faith as the confirmation of things we are expecting like the sms notification you get when someone sends money into your mobile money or bank account. Even though you have not physically seen the cash the notification settles your hope, it makes you rest assured that you have money even though you have not seen it.

Stay connected  as we delve deeper in our subsequent posts this week.

God bless you all.

Father in the Name of Jesus, thank you for this day, please forgive me of any sin committed against you that my prayer will get to you. Today I have learnt about faith and I ask that you will check me up and take away my unbelief that I will see your marvelous works in and around me. I open myself up to receiving more from you. Thank you Father for making your ears attent unto my prayer in Jesus’ Name Amen.

You need protective coverings too

Thank God for technological advancements, now a lot of things have been made easier!

Even though these things come with their positive and negative sides, there is so much we can do that will impact lives positively. So let us all try hard to maximize the positives to the glory of God.

My observations

I look around me and every corner i spot people with smartphones that are touchscreen, i barely find phones with hard keypads.

But i realized that almost every smart touchscreen phone i come across including mine has a cracked screen. lol

One thing is that, the very good brands with high specifications costs a fortune, oh yeah i am not exaggerating, some can actually buy plots of land!

That being said, after getting those phones, we also need to put measures in place to protect them because getting them fixed also comes at a high price, sometimes very close to the amount at which it was bought.

If you are reckless enough, you will definitely need an anti-crack screen protector and all the other anti’s plus a hard body cover.

So that at least your heart will not jump out of its place once your phone leaves your hand.

Now what am i driving at with my long talk?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Because of the love God has for us, He could not watch us go through the darkness of this world with all the pain associated with it, so while we were lost and could not find our way, He made a way where there was no way through His son Jesus Christ.

The scriptures below explains further

1 Corinthians 7:23

You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.

1 Corinthians 6:20

You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Just imagine someone buys an expensive phone like the latest iPhone model for you as a gift, what then must you do so the person does not regret giving it to you?

You must keep the phone well, and since it is fragile and can break easily it must be protected and taken care of so that the person’s heart will be relieved by the decision he made by giving you such a gift.

The same way God gave us a precious gift more than anything money can ever buy, a priceless gift we did not deserve.

Since we have been bought we do not own ourselves and so we must live to please Him.

Whatever we do with our lives must bring honor to the name of the One who owns us.

So i pause, ask yourself this question and answer yourself before moving on.

Is whatever i am doing now worthy enough to bring honor to God?

We do not also forget that we are humans and as the saying goes to err is human…

Challenges and trials are bound to happen  in our lives, that is why we must put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, we may be able to stand.

( Ephesians 6:13)

We cannot afford to destroy our new bodies and our new identity in Christ, the one bought with the blood of Jesus!

We cannot make God regret for giving us Jesus!

therefore let us live right.

May God help us all.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the gift of life. You are indeed worthy of my praise. I do ask that you will look deep within me and cleanse my heart of any filth that whatever I do will be acceptable unto you.

It is in you I live,  move and have my being. You are my source and I have no other God but you.

Help me to always treasure the priceless gift you gave to me, and help me work towards not losing this precious gift.

Give me the grace and strength to stand the test of time till the second coming my savior Jesus Christ.

Thank you for making your ears attent unto my prayers, in Jesus’ name have I prayed, Amen.

Pain before Pleasure

no pain no gain

Sometime ago i listened to one of my favorite preachers say she loved trouble and i was like, what is this woman talking about and what planet is she on?

I began digging deep into what she said and i found this message resonating deep within and so let me go ahead and share with you all…

Trouble goes along with pain, they are like siblings.

First of all Jesus had to go through a hell of trouble with extreme pain associated, in order to get us out of the bondage of sin.

Now we are living in Christ enjoying all the goodies that comes along with it.

His selfless act of love on the cross brought us to a place where we found eternal rest in Himself.

God planned the redemption of man but it was not going to be on a silver platter lest anyone belittle the wisdom of God.

So Jesus had to go through all the pain to redeem man, that the glory of God will be made manifest and also that people will have proof of this redemption.

Joseph needed his brothers to sell him off to Potiphar and he needed Potiphar’s wife to accuse him of adultery so he will be bound in prison…

In that tight corner, he came to a realization of the God-given talent that could break him out of those bounds and so while he was in trouble, and was ceased from doing his normal daily activities, he worked on becoming a better person by nurturing the gift God had given him.

In prison Joseph moved from being a dreamer to an interpreter of dreams then to a prime minister. He became an economist as well as an agriculturist all because he took advantage of the trouble around him.

All these things happened when he was pushed out of his comfort zone.

See the troubles that come your way as opportunities or a bus that is taking you to the desired destination.

As we admire the beautiful brightly colored rose flowers, we should also look beneath it to see the dirt it came out of.

Before we see the brightness of the day, there must be darkness and do not also forget that in the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, night came before day on the very first day.

Surely weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning.

Every time there is chaos, God is getting ready to bring out something, mantles are getting ready to be released in the spirit. Extraordinary and unheard things are about happening.

Will you be the Joseph who will strategically position himself to be used to the glory of God,

In  times of famine or whatever the challenge may be?

No one loves trouble and obviously no one loves pain but if you will stand up and face the problems head on fixing your eyes on Jesus the problem fixer then man! You are in for an unexpected bountiful harvest amidst the famine.

Will you be the cry baby always waiting for help to suddenly appear without working towards it?

The enemy hates to see an aggressive thinker in motion because whatever he puts together by the grace of God advances God’s kingdom and depopulates hell. he therefore tries to stir up the waters making it unstable to do any work but do not be dismayed because all things are working for your good just like Joseph, God will use your story to glorify Himself!

People will see you and give glory to His name! Surely it will come to pass in Jesus name.

Bible reference; Genesis 45:5-8

Thank you father for this day, indeed i am grateful for the life you have given to me once again free of charge.

I do ask that you will forgive me of my sins and cleanse me, that i may be clean.

Father i know that all things are working together for my good.

And i know that you have a plan for me, i pray for direction to follow it, patience to wait for it and knowledge to know when it comes.

Thank you for making your ears attent unto my prayer in Jesus’ name have i prayed with thanksgiving,  Amen.

The 3 golden habits.

As humans as we all are, don’t we just love to be praised?
Sometimes people do the right things for the wrong reasons and miss every blessing associated with the deed.
There are somethings that once it is done often it naturally prolongs your lifespan like exercising, eating well and on time, drinking lots of water, and smiling, yes that too.

Today, i want to share with you 3 golden habits to living a successful life in Christ given to us by our Savior Jesus Christ in Matthew 6:1-18.
The good thing is that the results are also physically detected.

There is much more blessing in giving than receiving.
Remember the saying, givers never lack?
Well, the bible says in Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

It is indeed good to give but how we give is also very necessary.
What good will it be by giving something to someone and later on tell everyone about that deed? i think it will be better to send it to the radio station to be announced, so that you reach your goal faster.
People who truly give from their hearts always want it to stay a secret and even prevent the receiver from even saying “thank you” to them.
Their rewards are always greater because God loves cheerful givers but not hypocrites.
Let us by the leadings of the Holy Spirit, learn to give no matter how small it, it might just be a life saver for someone.

Prayer is life sustaining, that is why the bible says we should pray without ceasing.
Treat prayer as you treat your daily meal because it is a necessity.
We should note that it is not the number of words we are able to utter per minute that shows we are prayerful or carry power,
But your ability to cause heaven to interfere in the earth realm.
Let us learn to be skillful in prayer as a swordsman is with his sword.
The bible warns us strongly against “eye service”, that is, doing things just so we will be applauded.
Pray from your heart and in the spirit wherever you find yourself and the Lord who knows even before we ask and sees the deepest depths of our hearts shall reward us accordingly.

3. Fasting
Fasting is an effective tool that quickens or enforces our prayers.
It is very expedient for us to know how to fast so that we do not end up starving ourselves claiming it is a spiritual exercise.
There are some battles we cannot overcome unless by fasting and so if it must be done, then it must be done well.
When you are fasting, delight in it even though it might not be a pleasant exercise, work towards achieving the aim for the fast by focusing on God and not people. God does not mingle with hypocrites for they already have received their rewards from people.

So i conclude with this text…
Matthew 6:1
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the grace and mercies you poured down abundantly upon me, i am grateful.
Dear Lord please forgive my errors against you and wipe me clean that i may be clean.
Help me be a doer and not only a listener of your word at all times even though it is not easy, but your strength will make it possible.
Draw me closer to you father and teach me for me to understand your ways.
May i never be a hypocrite in all i do in your name.
Thank you Father for making your ears attent unto my prayer in the name of Jesus have i prayed with thanksgiving, Amen.

How to face your battles.II

Since we made the decision to follow Jesus, we have become a permanent enemy of the devil and he therefore devises ways to defeat or get us into his kingdom but thank God we are not ignorant of His schemes.

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Sometimes when he(the devil) wants to get to us but all his attempts hits a dead end, he redirects his cause to the people we love, he brings sickness, death, pain, financial challenges, divorce, addiction, lust…etc at other times we feel the tension so much but we see no manifestation and through these, he gets to us.

This day i want to tell somebody that we have a mighty weapon which is able to pull down strongholds(2 Corinthians 10:4)

But one thing is, you cannot use a spiritual weapon in the flesh!
You must always be in the spirit to utilize spiritual things.
So the guns you have hiding under your bed is useless when it comes to dealing with spiritual battles.
The devil is not afraid of that because there is no power in it!

He will always try to lure you into a place you can be defeated easily.
And so when he comes to you in the flesh change your battle ground because in the flesh you have no power, in the flesh you are limited but once you put on the full armor of God,
It is like speaking through a microphone connected to an amplifier, the impact is massive compared to using just your voice unaided.

Send him to your comfort Zone which is in Christ and in that zone the devil is uncomfortable because of the power Jesus carries, and right there, the battle ended even before starting in your favor.
Fight from a high place for that is your position, we are seated in a high place in Christ above all principalities and power.(Ephesians 2:6)

The only way to face the devil head on is by putting on the full not partial armor of God.
We must be always be prepared as soldiers ready for war and we must have all the things we need to fight in place.

The things needed to win a spiritual battle

Ephesians 6:14-18

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Your protection lies in these through Christ Jesus therefore do not leave home without them, do not sleep without them, infact do not do anything without them!

The devil knows your weakness and he tries to get to you through that loose end you need to get to him at his loose end by changing the battle ground.
Be in the spirit, pray in the spirit and remain in the spirit!

God bless and help us all.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for my life today, such a precious gift you have given to me. I am grateful father, please forgive my sins and wash me that i may be clean. I establish my legal right as your child and i
cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of you God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, i cover myself and everyone connected to me with the blood of Jesus.
Father refuel me whenever i get short of energy to carry on, and help me stand on my feet at all times in the name of Jesus, have i prayed with thanksgiving, Amen.

How to face your battles. I

1 Chronicles 4:9-10
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

As i studied through the bible character Jabez…i kept on asking questions, what kind of situation will cause a mother to completely destroy the future of a little boy whose fault, it was not, for coming into this world?
Giving him a name knowing that names mostly defines the future of a person.

Could it be because of the pain she was going through at that moment? Or She was hoping the little baby will seek a greater Being who could alter the havoc caused.
Maybe she had no love for the boy and did not care about anything that could happen to him, could that be it?
Well, i will leave this for my dear readers to ponder over it.

Battles come in various forms, it could be spiritual, physical, emotional, psychological…
and battles are brought about by our personal actions and through others (family, friends and enemies).

So today we are looking at Jabez and the battle brought upon him by his mother, and how he was able to move pass it gloriously.
This guy’s battle was a serious one, to be given the name pain?
How are you supposed to even smile? I am sure that would even hurt.

Most of us are born with certain disorders and sometimes society moulds us into something we are not but we do accept that and remain mediocre in all we do. Other times we are rendered ‘useless’ even though we were made in the image and likeness of God.

Jabez could have crossed his fingers and watch things go against him but he chose to focus on Someone Greater.
He chose to delight himself in the Lord, and by seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness God granted unto him his prayer request.
He refused to accept his condition so he prayed that God should lift it off him and help him not to cause pain to others as it was done to him.

steps to dealing with your battles
1. focusing on the solution which is God.
2. Cry out to God through fervent prayers; keep praying even if you are not seeing results.
3. Your actions must correspond to your prayers; do not pray about a thing whiles your thoughts and actions says another.
4.have faith in God and relax(patience) for Him to turn things around.

Jabez defied his hopeless name and dysfunctional beginning to become a man who believed fervently in the power of God. He prayed fervently with urgency and vulnerability. He cried out to the lord with boldness and obtained mercy in his time of need!

Jabez was honored because of his relationship with God but let’s take not of the scripture below…

Romans 9:15
For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

May God help us all.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for the gift of life today.
I am very much grateful.
Dear Lord, forgive me of all errors committed against you and wash me, that i may be clean.
I commit my life into your hands redirect my course and take away any border preventing me from living a purpose driven life.
I cry to you father that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that i may not cause pain!in Jesus’ mighty name have i prayed with thanksgiving, Amen.
