Topic: Don’t get too attached
Main text: Matthew 6:21
Sometimes no matter how comfortable you are in a strange land you always yearn to go back home even if you do not have all the amenities that brings comfort. This is simply because home is home and home is sweet.
Home is actually not a structure but a place with a personal connection and a place where one feels at peace even with the least of amenities.
With that being said it is reported that a lot of people do not want to go home because they’ve become too comfortable in their current location which is infact temporal and they see nothing wrong.
They’ve become tied to things they’ve been able to achieve at their present locations that it will be difficult to move away from those. You dare take those things away and they cease to function because their hearts are tied to those things.
Now let’s come back home…
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Today we are being reminded not to get too comfortable or attached where we are because this place is just a transition zone…
We have a better place to go, a place we can call home so let’s live our lives here on this earth as pilgrims, having in mind that we are in this world but not of this world.
So intead on mounting up so much wealth on this land that you can’t even go to the grave with when you die why not store your wealth home?
Believers of Jesus Christ have an Inheritance in heaven above.
Believe you me, if the things you treasure most are hidden under your bed, your heart will always be there, but is that place safe enough?
What if robbers come around? what if there is a fire outbreak and you are not around to rescue your treasure?
Today I present to you a safe haven where no evil hand or eye can reach your possessions and that place is found in Jesus Christ. Let’s put our treasures in Him because if we do that our hearts will also be tied to Him, then we know that even if we loose everything on this strange land we have better things stored up home, in a place safe.
And one day as the Master comes for us, we will gladly go and enjoy all the goodies home, afterall home sweet home and there is no better place to enjoy than home.
Everything in this world shall pass away anyways, so why not fix your eyes on the only permanent thing? That’s the Word of God (Jesus Christ).
Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for my life and this reminder. Please forgive my sins as I forgive all who sin against me. Help me dear Lord not to get attached to this world or anything in it but fix my eyes on you alone, for you are eternal. Help me lord in Jesus name have I prayed with thanksgiving amen.
