Topic: The bible; cake or bread
Scripture: joshua 1:8
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”.
I’ve come to realize that the same way some people go for home coming at their various churches once a year, that’s the 31st night of the month of December. The same technique is applied to bible reading.
For some people, the only time they get to open their bibles is when in church whiles the sermon is ongoing, but what happens when they go on church sabbatical leave? The bible suffers too.
Others have made the bible a dictionary… It it when they encounter something new or a big word they don’t understand that they track the bible to know its location in order to use it. When they face big problems then the bible comes to mind.
If you are like that then this message is for you,
The bible isn’t a cake that you taste occasionally. It is supposed to be bread, almost every household tastes bread everyday compared to cakes which are reserved for special occasions.
How do you intend surviving when you’ve turned the word of God that gives life into a piece of cake that you taste occasionally? and you know the problem with cakes, you just can’t take large quantities like bread, a little piece and you are tired of it already!
But if you want to live a prosperous and successful life then listen to what the Spirit says to the church.
Turn your bible into a bread and feed on the engrafted word of God everyday instead of having an occasion feel of it as you do with cakes.
Father Lord thank you for this day and my life, please forgive my sins as i forgive all who sin against me. It is my heartfelt prayer that you will develop in me a whetting appetite for your word, make me uncomfortable anytime I stay away from your word that gives life. the same way you never did anything you did without the word may I also do nothing without your word and so help me Father in Jesus name I pray amen.
