Topic: Drop that selfish ambition

Scripture: Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Many times we do things for people with a sort of hidden agenda… It’s either we want be praised for our works (eye service) or to get a favor in return.

I always say that Christians are so fortunate to have a role model who is perfect and also perfects anyone who chooses to follow him, in himself.

A lot of us don’t even remember the last time we purchased something with others in mind, something like ohh wow, this dress will look good on Benewaa, let me get it for her. Naaa, it’s always me, me, me, and me, even if the thing isn’t your size you will force and wear and eventually get it torn. 

It’s funny how Sometimes when we want to even buy something, because we don’t want to share with anyone we intentionally select the very ones we know our friends hate so we can enjoy alone…I hope someone can relate to this!

Learn to give whatever you can, love, your service, time,money… And expect nothing back.

There is nothing that goes unrecorded in the books of God so never grow weary of doing good, at the right time you will receive your reward.

Just incase you think no one sees your doings, remember that God is all seeing and all knowing…

If we as Christians decide to even look at others above ourselves and also consider their interests , we will end up taking care of ourselves indirectly as someone else will be doing the same things we are doing for others unto us. It’s like a cycle and as the saying goes, what goes around comes around.

I think that sometimes we must lay aside some “positions” we have like Jesus and put ourselves in the shoes of others whether it fits or not and walk in it. Then we will be able to understand what they go through.

Let’s learn to sacrifice a little bit of our resources…time, money… To help bring someone out of the gutters or build a bridge for them to cross to the other side.

Prayer

1. Thank God for today, your life and this message.

2. Ask for forgiveness of Sins.

3. Ask God to give you the courage to dare consider others before yourself and also pray that He puts His love in your heart so you can give selflessly.

4. Thank God for an answered prayer in Jesus name,amen.
