IMITATING CHRIST IN FORGIVENESS

“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”And they divided His garments and cast lots”.Luke 23:34

TODAY’S FRAGRANCE:

Can you vividly picture two people having a serious fight or argument in a typical local setting where the innocent one stays cool without hurling curses and insults at the other in defense ?

It’s a common case…

Now do you remember that time you did nothing to that boy yet he went on to shatter your heart in pieces and by that, you swore never to forgive him for the pain caused, and no matter how many times the person apologized the pain increases when you see his face.

But why is forgiveness so difficult and painful?

We forgive others when we let go of resentment and give up any claim to be compensated for the hurt or loss we have suffered. The Bible teaches that unselfish love is the basis for true forgiveness, since love “does not keep account of hurt.”—1 Corinthians 13:4, 5.

Generally it is treat me how you want me to treat you, so if you treat me bad you are definitely getting that back!
But Jesus changed it!! He says no matter how bad you treat me I will still love you enough to die for you.

How amazing, when faced with death He still prayed and pleaded mercy for those who inflicted agonizing pain on Him.

What kind of man is this!

Forgiveness is one bitter pill but we must swallow anyways if we want to get better!

Forgiveness is not for the other person. It is for you. The longer you hold on to the pains, hurt, disappointment, rejection, insults, assault, humiliation, or the past, the longer you hold yourself from being free.

Many of us are not being used by God because there is no space for Him in our hearts. It has been filled with Unnecessary pain and bitterness, that place is so full yet with nothing!

Need I remind you that Jesus, needs your heart all to Himself?
Forgiveness means releasing the other from blame, leaving the event in God’s hands, and moving on.

Nothing compares to the freedom we feel when we learn to forgive others. When we choose not to forgive, we become slaves to bitterness. We are the ones most hurt by holding on to unforgiveness.

Remember that it is only when you forgive others that your father in heaven will forgive your sins also.

Today is a new day so take a bold step to forgive yourself, and forgive the other person.

Blessings…

Father Lord thank you for today, Lord please put forgiveness in my heart and help me give what you gave me to others. Help me love unconditionally in Jesus’ name, amen.
