Today’s Fragrance: The Breastplate Of Righteousness

Ephesians 6:13-17; Isaiah 59:17; 1Thessalonians 5:8
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested being witnessed by the law and the prophets” (Romans 3:21).
Before any further truth understand that Jesus Christ is our righteousness (1 Corinthians. 1:30) and we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
This righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith as it is written, the just shall live by faith (Romans 3:22 & 25). So, our breastplate is of faith in Christ and the love of God.
Why is the breastplate of righteousness? The breastplate protects our abdomen, ultimately the heart. Our hearts must be protected by the truth (you see the binding effect of truth?) that we are the righteousness of God. Out of our hearts flow the issues of life. God transforms our hearts at the new birth because when our hearts are right then we can live right. We are human beings by reason of nature and that makes us do ‘humanly’ stuff and so we are righteous by reason of the new birth in Christ and are made the ‘right-beings’ of God.
Therefore, we are righteous by the work of Christ and do righteous deeds because it has become our new nature.
That explains why we ought not to let the devil condemn us when we fail or falter. Allowing the slander of the enemy on our faults is letting down your breastplate so he strikes your heart. The resulting action is you condemn yourself and lose focus on the battlefield.
Therefore, dearly beloved, since we are made right not of our works but by the perfect finished work of Jesus let us not allow our shortcomings cause us to let down our guard allowing the enemy to win over us. But holding firmly our righteousness by the belt of truth, take advantage of your nature in Christ and vanquish the mind games of the enemy for “nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:39)
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, help me in Jesus’ name to know who i am at all times so that i do not let down my breastplate of righteousness ever, to stand in the battle and exercise or mandate. Amen.
