Why Do You Give?

…because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5)

Overtime I’ve come to a realization of the fact that even when I don’t have much, I give selflessly when it comes to the people I love. I feel so burdened when my loved ones ask for something and I’m unable to meet that need. And when I do have, And they ask, I don’t think, I just give because already I’m looking for opportunities to give to them just to see that they’re happy.

Even when they don’t thank me, I don’t get offended because I wasn’t giving for a thank you in the first place.

Love is actually a powerful tool, not self-seeking and always looking for avenues to do! And Oh! I’ve come to also understand that love is a decision. You chose and you stick to the one or what you chose no matter what!

Truth is, our giving equals zero when it’s not given on the platform of love or with a heart for God. By all means give! But on the basis of love!

We give because of love and we are able to love because He first loved us.

So if really I’m able to give freely because I love what if my scope broadens? what if I decide to love just like Christ did? Unconditionally? What if believers intentionally decide to love all…irrespective of denomination, tribe, skin color or economic status?

What will become of this world?

It’s not by might, but we have a role to play, ours is to decide to love, and the spirit of the lord will teach us how to do it. We cannot give what we do not have, we may end up giving out the fake because we’ve not yet encountered the original.

God is love! Only He can put this love in our hearts and His spirit does that generously!
