Giving On The Platform Of Love

…because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5)

There is nothing we do in our Christian walk that doesn’t require the use of faith. God is a God of Faith and without faith, it will be impossible to please Him.

The degree of faith we operate in is equivalent to the level of our love for God.

We cannot possibly love like God without Faith. Galatians 5:6 says that

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

In our previous message it was established that because God is love, even though we have roles to play by deciding to love, we cannot do it by might. Only He can put this love in our hearts and His spirit does that generously!

Now here is how…

The Holy Spirit fuses the love of God into the heart of men and as He does, destroys the self inside man. Selfishness, self-centeredness, the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are some of the things ejected from the heart as God is enthroned. When this is done, giving becomes a lifestyle.

The love of God is validated by giving, giving is the only proof of love. We give not only in monetary terms but even with our time, attention, service…

In all these let us be reminded that

Our giving equals zero when it’s not given on the platform of love or with a heart for God.

By all means give! But on the basis of love!

Dear God, teach my heart to love like yours, in Jesus name, amen.
