Today’s fragrance: hold on tight.

Topic: Hold on tight

Scripture: Deuteronomy 4:4

“But all of you who held fast to the LORD your God are still alive today”.

A common thing almost everyone does is to find something firm to hold on to in times of need.

Have you ever held onto a small tree upon tripping and by the time you realized you and that tree were comfortably lying in a gutter you were trying hard to escape falling into?

Do take note that not everything looking good on its feet actually looks good inside, appearance can be deceptive so never hold unto anything tighter than you are holding on to God.

So if we really want to live long we must hold onto something strong enough to hold us in place when in trouble, or someone we will always find salvation with upon extending our hands for help.

Just in case you’ve been looking for one, look no further because all you need is found in God, He is all in one and all power and Might belongs to Him.

Reading Deuteronomy 4:1-3 we are taught how to hold tightly on to God to ensure that we live.

We are asked to follow the decrees of God from every letter to the last dot found in the Holy book (Bible) leaving nothing out or adding up to the original content by way of modifying it to suit our lifestyle.

Most of us Christians are guilty of selective obedience, we choose scriptures that favor us than the ones that asks us to endure or even love others as ourselves, to forgive those who offend us and even pray for our enemies.

We are being awakened today that in order to take possession of the land or things God is giving to us, we must listen and follow all instructions found in His word. Now this cannot be done without grace, that means surrendering to Him, and letting Him take charge.
Holding fast to God means trusting God enough to hand over everything to Him, and watch Him direct as you humbly follow His leadings.

Thank you for the gift of life Lord, please forgive my sins Father and help me follow every word you speak to me no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it may seem, for I know your words are always true. Grant me the grace to continually trust in you alone.Thank you Lord for making your ears attent unto my prayer In Jesus’ name have I prayed, Amen.

Today’s fragrance: Check Yourself.

Topic: check yourself

Scripture: Isaiah 59:2

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear”.

The reason why you are not receiving that help in times of need might be because of you.
One thing I’ve learnt in life is that humans most times, when messed up in some situations will try to find someone to push the blame on just to satisfy our conscience.

But there is One who consistently “suffers” in the hands of humans in these cases…God…haha

It’s funny but pretty intense, I mean how can you attribute your problems to Someone who takes no delight in seeing you drop a tear and for that matter bottles it up so that they don’t even touch the ground!

We’ve all at a point in our lives felt as though we were all alone in this space God made all because we feel God has gone mute on us.

Let me tell you that God hasn’t changed, He is still where He is which is closer to you than your skin! So don’t for once think that He would ever forsake you because He will never go against His word.

The problem isn’t with God but us, He doesn’t move from us, we do, when we sin then after we condemn ourselves as unworthy of His presence even when He is offering forgiveness.

The connection between God and man is a Holy one and once it gets broken…it must be fixed else no call will get through to Him like a distorted telephone line. But should this happen, how will He hear us not to even talk of meeting our needs?

God loves your company so much that He wishes you never leave His sight even a second. But it’s rather unfortunate that sometimes we allow the desires of our flesh to lead us to sin thereby making an impenetrable dark or curtain separating us, and making it close to impossible to get to Him even though He is close.
Sometimes we don’t receive answers to our prayers because genuinely it’s not time yet. But there are others that never really got to Him due to the fact that we’ve been stuck in our own pile of sin unwilling to change our ways yet we want to see God’s glory revealed in us…

This is a special note to you who constantly like to attribute every wrong thing in your life to God, I wanna kindly ask for you to check yourself before you do that next time.

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.

Call on Him today and be saved.

1. Thank God for your life.

2. Ask for forgiveness of sin

3. Sincerely Lay everything bare before Him so that you may be saved and consequently find help in your time of need.

4. Thank Him for receiving you once again in Jesus name, amen.

The ungrateful child

last week I encountered an old man who began telling me some things as I sat by him in a bus, obviously he lacked people to talk to so the least chance he got, he shared his story. It was awkward in the beginning but gradually I warmed up to the conversation. I had thoughts running through my head as to why a man who just met me felt comfortable enough to let me in on his life issues. Then I was like let me just listen and learn, after all what have I got to loose?

This old man probably in his early 70’s started grumbling about his only son…

He was like, I’m just from my son’s house and as I got there I couldn’t even spend the night because he thinks I’m a bother now that he has a good job that pays him and other things making his life comfortable. I went to talk to him but as usual he wouldn’t even sit down to listen to my “nonsense” and make some sense out of it.

My daughter, the issue is a little complicated but listen and learn from it so you don’t repeat this mistake, the old man said with small a voice as I looked into his weak eyes and saw little drops of tears trying to escape them.

I lost my wife in labor when my son was birthed. Things were pretty tough in the village where I reside but I promised my wife to give our son the best. I had to work all kinds of menial jobs to gather enough money and sometimes borrow to ensure that my son got the best. I had to do by force fasting without prayers (starving) sometimes for his wellbeing and I gladly did without thinking twice, because he was all I had.

His university days were like nightmares for me, things were seriously tough but all the same I had to look for other means of catering for my son and through the struggle God was and has been faithful seeing my son through school and now he has a very good job here in the city. But it looks like my son does not know who I am anymore. I don’t know what happened but anytime he sees my face he looks at me like someone who came to beg for alms and also one who came to reap what he has not sown.

So my daughter tell me the wrong I did by taking care of this boy even when my strength couldn’t suffice so that at least in my old age I will enjoy life but see my end, total rejection, coming from my very blood…

I believe we have started judging this boy but pause and read this before…

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Rev 3:20 (NIV)

This is Jesus speaking to us, after all He did for us He still has to stand at the door for so long and knock and exercise enough patience for us to walk leisurely to the door, look at him through the small whole and realizing He is the one, we never allow Him in ‘cause he is coming to “disturb” us. Now we are comfortable with the life we have, so its  Jesus I don’t need your presence, go! when I’m in in need I will call for you. Isn’t this sad?

Anytime we reject Jesus His heart hurts but He still hangs around just in case we remember all he did for us when we didn’t even love ourselves and decide to allow him in.

Say this prayer with me if you wanna invite Him in this moment, i mean now for time waits on no man…

Lord, Jesus, today I accept that I am a sinner and that it’s for my sins that you died, and for my redemption you raised from the dead and so I take you as my Lord and personal Savior, come into my heart and teach me the right way for I want to walk with you forever and so help me God, in Jesus name amen.

If you have said this prayer believe that you have been saved. The bible says, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:10
