(Matthew 25:1-5)
Weāve heard and read the parable of the 10 virgins but permit me to take it from a different angle today to send a message across.
The Bible speaks of 10 virgins who went out on a mission. The goal of their mission was to meet the bridegroom. However, only 5 out of the 10 virgins were able to realize this goal why?
The five, i believe, had a well thought out plan. And that pushed them ahead of the other group which the Bible described as foolish.
From the parable, we realize the virgins went out to meet the bridegroom. And once thereās a bridegroom then thereās definitely a wedding and you know, thereās no wedding without a program schedule.
I believe these virgins received invitation to the wedding with details on when the program would commence- as people do even now on wedding invitation cards.
So these virgins went out based on the information they were given but a group decided to look beyond what was given. This group, the wise virgins did not fit their plans tightly to the program schedules so as not to be found in a fix when the original plan goes sideways.
They carried extra oil because they anticipated possible challenges that could occur given their circumstances and made adequate provisions.
So yes the wise virgins went along with extra oil on their journey.
Program schedule didnāt go as planned, bridegroom delayed. But because the wise ones made provisions that covered uncertainties they were better prepared to handle that challenge.
I believe that If the wise virgins even went a step further in their thinking, they wouldāve even made some money off the foolish virgins by selling some of their oil to them but perhaps their economy was good so they had no need for moneyš
Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
Thereās so much in this passage we can apply in every aspect of our lives that will help us live highly productive lives this year and beyond.
Critical thinkers are deep planners. They are able to anticipate future challenges, prepare and take advantage of circumstances-even the unfavorable-rather than allow challenges to hit and run them over.
In our dealings this year, letās be diligent and intentional in making plans, while at it letās be flexible so as to make adjustments whenever need be.
Blessings…
